प्राप्य प्राकृतवद्वीर न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि ॥१॥

Saṃjaya said: O best among Bharatas (bharatarṣabha), O hero (vīra), having incurred this calamity born of your own fault (ātman-aparādha), you ought not to grieve like an ordinary person.
