महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-126, verse-29

धर्मार्थावभिसंत्यज्य संरम्भं योऽनुमन्यते ।
हसन्ति व्यसने तस्य दुर्हृदो नचिरादिव ॥२९॥
29. dharmārthāvabhisaṁtyajya saṁrambhaṁ yo'numanyate ,
hasanti vyasane tasya durhṛdo nacirādiva.
29. dharmārthau abhisaṃtyajya saṃrambham yaḥ anumanyate
hasanti vyasane tasya durhṛdaḥ na cirāt iva
29. yaḥ dharmārthau abhisaṃtyajya saṃrambham anumanyate,
tasya vyasane durhṛdaḥ na cirāt iva hasanti.
29. Whoever completely disregards both righteous conduct (dharma) and material prosperity (artha), and instead encourages reckless actions, his enemies will soon laugh at his misfortune.
