महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-96, verse-39

वालखिल्या ऊचुः ।
एकपादेन वृत्त्यर्थं ग्रामद्वारे स तिष्ठतु ।
धर्मज्ञस्त्यक्तधर्मोऽस्तु यस्ते हरति पुष्करम् ॥३९॥
39. vālakhilyā ūcuḥ ,
ekapādena vṛttyarthaṁ grāmadvāre sa tiṣṭhatu ,
dharmajñastyaktadharmo'stu yaste harati puṣkaram.
39. Vālakhilyā ūcuḥ ekapādena vṛttyartham grāma-dvāre saḥ tiṣṭhatu
dharmajñaḥ tyakta-dharmaḥ astu yaḥ te harati puṣkaram
39. Vālakhilyā ūcuḥ yaḥ te puṣkaram harati,
saḥ ekapādena vṛttyartham grāma-dvāre tiṣṭhatu,
dharmajñaḥ tyakta-dharmaḥ astu.
39. The Valakhilyas said: May he who takes your lotus stand at the village gate on one foot for his livelihood; and though a knower of natural law (dharma), may he be one who has forsaken his natural law (dharma).
