महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-96, verse-12

पुरावरान्प्रत्यवरान्गरीयसो यावन्नरा नावमंस्यन्ति सर्वे ।
तमोत्तरं यावदिदं न वर्तते तावद्व्रजामि परलोकं चिराय ॥१२॥
12. purāvarānpratyavarāngarīyaso; yāvannarā nāvamaṁsyanti sarve ,
tamottaraṁ yāvadidaṁ na vartate; tāvadvrajāmi paralokaṁ cirāya.

yāvat narāḥ na avamansyanti sarve
tamaḥ uttaram yāvat idam na
vartate tāvat vrajāmi paralokam cirāya
12. purā sarve narāḥ avarān pratyavarān garīyasaḥ na avamansyanti,
yāvat ca idam tamaḥ uttaram na vartate,
tāvat (aham) cirāya paralokam vrajāmi.
12. Before all people disrespect the inferiors, the lowest, and even the venerable; and before this world becomes utterly dominated by ignorance (tamas), I will go to the other world permanently.
