Brahma, the Prajapati (lord of creation) and the grandfather (pitāmaha), existed initially. He is indeed the creator of all worlds (loka) – those inhabited by gods (sura), asuras, rākṣasas, humans (manuṣya), and serpents (uraga) – and he is verily the maker of all creatures (bhūtakṛt).
