वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-6, verse-49

माल्यवांश्च सुमाली च माली च रजनीचराः ।
आसन्पुरःसरास्तेषां क्रतूनामिव पावकाः ॥४९॥
49. mālyavāṃśca sumālī ca mālī ca rajanīcarāḥ ,
āsanpuraḥsarāsteṣāṃ kratūnāmiva pāvakāḥ.

āsan puraḥsarāḥ teṣām kratūnām iva pāvakāḥ
49. Mālyavān, Sumālī, and Mālī, these night-wanderers, were their foremost leaders, just as fires are for the Vedic rituals (kratu).
