यदि वायं तथा यन्मां भवेद्वदसि लक्ष्मण ।
मायैषा राक्षसस्येति कर्तव्यो ऽस्य वधो मया ॥३६॥

36. yadi vāyaṃ tathā yanmāṃ bhavedvadasi lakṣmaṇa ,
māyaiṣā rākṣasasyeti kartavyo'sya vadho mayā.

māyā eṣā rākṣasasya iti kartavyaḥ asya vadhaḥ mayā

36. O Lakshmana, if this is truly as you say—that it might be an illusion (māyā) created by a demon—then his slaying must be carried out by me.
