महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-1, verse-5

ते वेश्मस्वपि कौरव्य पृथ्वीशा नाप्नुवन्सुखम् ।
चिन्तयन्तः क्षयं तीव्रं निद्रां नैवोपलेभिरे ॥५॥
5. te veśmasvapi kauravya pṛthvīśā nāpnuvansukham ,
cintayantaḥ kṣayaṁ tīvraṁ nidrāṁ naivopalebhire.
5. te veśmasu api kauravya pṛthvīśāḥ na āpnuvan sukham
cintayantaḥ kṣayam tīvram nidrām na eva upalebhire
5. kauravya! te pṛthvīśāḥ api veśmasu sukham na āpnuvan.
tīvram kṣayam cintayantaḥ nidrām na eva upalebhire.
5. Even in their palaces, those lords of the earth did not find comfort. Pondering over the intense destruction, they could not obtain sleep.
