महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-1, verse-48

यस्मादभावी भावी वा भवेदर्थो नरं प्रति ।
अप्राप्तौ तस्य वा प्राप्तौ न कश्चिद्व्यथते बुधः ॥४८॥
48. yasmādabhāvī bhāvī vā bhavedartho naraṁ prati ,
aprāptau tasya vā prāptau na kaścidvyathate budhaḥ.
48. yasmāt abhāvī bhāvī vā bhavet arthaḥ naram prati
aprāptau tasya vā prāptau na kaścit vyathate budhaḥ
48. yasmāt naram prati abhāvī vā bhāvī arthaḥ bhavet,
tasya aprāptau vā prāptau kaścit budhaḥ na vyathate.
48. A discerning person (budha) is never agitated or distressed regarding a matter, whether it concerns something that is destined not to be or something that is destined to be, nor does he become distressed over its non-attainment or attainment.
