महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-1, verse-34

गाङ्गेये निहते शूरे दिव्यास्त्रवति संजय ।
द्रोणे च परमेष्वासे भृशं मे व्यथितं मनः ॥३४॥
34. gāṅgeye nihate śūre divyāstravati saṁjaya ,
droṇe ca parameṣvāse bhṛśaṁ me vyathitaṁ manaḥ.

ca parama iṣvāse bhṛśam me vyathitam manaḥ
34. sañjaya,
śūre divyāstravati gāṅgeye nihate ca parama iṣvāse droṇe (nihate sati),
me manaḥ bhṛśam vyathitam (asti).
34. O Sanjaya, when the heroic son of Gaṅgā (Bhīṣma), who possessed divine weapons, was slain, and also when Droṇa, the supreme archer (parameṣvāsa), was killed, my mind was greatly distressed.
