महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-48, verse-44

हतेश्वरैश्चूर्णितपत्त्युपस्करैर्हताश्वसूतैर्विपताककेतुभिः ।
महारथैर्भूः शुशुभे विचूर्णितैः पुरैरिवामित्रहतैर्नराधिप ॥४४॥

44. O King, the earth appeared glorious (or, was covered gloriously) with shattered great chariots—whose masters were slain, whose infantry and equipment were crushed, whose horses and charioteers were killed, and whose banners and standards were cast down—as if with cities destroyed by enemies.
