49. evaṁ bahuvidhaṁ tasya cintayānasya pārthiva ,
kṛpayābhiparītasya ghoraṁ yuddhamavartata.

49. While he (Dhritarashtra) was thus pondering various matters, O king, and was overcome by compassion, the dreadful battle began.
