ततः श्रुत्वा तद्वचः कौरवेन्द्रो दुर्योधनो दीनमना बभूव ।
तमब्रवीच्छांतनवोऽभिवीक्ष्य निबोध राजन्भव वीतमन्युः ॥३६॥
36. tataḥ śrutvā tadvacaḥ kauravendro; duryodhano dīnamanā babhūva ,
tamabravīcchāṁtanavo'bhivīkṣya; nibodha rājanbhava vītamanyuḥ.

36. Then, having heard those words, Duryodhana, the lord of the Kurus, became disheartened. Having observed him, Bhishma (śāntanava), the son of Shantanu, spoke to him: "Listen, O King, and be free from anger."
