महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-213, verse-4

वध्यमानं बलं दृष्ट्वा बहुशस्तैः पुरंदरः ।
स्वसैन्यनायकार्थाय चिन्तामाप भृशं तदा ॥४॥
4. vadhyamānaṁ balaṁ dṛṣṭvā bahuśastaiḥ puraṁdaraḥ ,
svasainyanāyakārthāya cintāmāpa bhṛśaṁ tadā.

4. Having seen his army being slaughtered repeatedly by them, Purandara (Indra) then became greatly anxious about finding a leader for his own army.
