महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-213, verse-37

मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एतच्छ्रुत्वा नमस्तस्मै कृत्वासौ सह कन्यया ।
तत्राभ्यगच्छद्देवेन्द्रो यत्र देवर्षयोऽभवन् ।
वसिष्ठप्रमुखा मुख्या विप्रेन्द्राः सुमहाव्रताः ॥३७॥
37. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca ,
etacchrutvā namastasmai kṛtvāsau saha kanyayā ,
tatrābhyagacchaddevendro yatra devarṣayo'bhavan ,
vasiṣṭhapramukhā mukhyā viprendrāḥ sumahāvratāḥ.
37. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca etat śrutvā namaḥ tasmai
kṛtvā asau saha kanyayā tatra abhyagacchat
devendraḥ yatra devarṣayaḥ abhavan
vasiṣṭhapramukhā mukhyā viprendrāḥ sumahāvratāḥ
37. Mārkaṇḍeya said: Having heard this, he (Indra), along with the maiden, offered obeisance to him. Then the king of gods (Indra) went there, where the divine sages were — prominent Brahmin sages, led by Vasiṣṭha, practicing great vows.
