उपायस्तु तथा तेन दृष्टिर्वास्तीह कीदृशी ।
अहो नु वितता भूमिः कष्टमेतादृशी दशा ॥ १८ ॥

18. upāyaḥ tu tathā tena dṛṣṭiḥ vā asti iha kīdṛśī
aho nu vitatā bhūmiḥ kaṣṭam etādṛśī daśā

18. upāyaḥ tu tathā tena iha vā kīdṛśī dṛṣṭiḥ
asti? aho nu bhūmiḥ vitatā! kaṣṭam etādṛśī daśā

18. What then is the method (upāya)? And by that, what sort of vision exists here? Oh, how vast is the earth (bhūmi)! Alas, such a plight!
