Through knowledge (jñāna), the mind (manas) can achieve a state free from latent impressions (vāsanā) and its own cessation. (Once this happens), it (the mind) no longer draws its activity (spada) from the vital energies (prāṇa). Therefore, only true peace (śānti) remains.
