योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-18, verse-41

तस्मान्न दुःखिता युक्ता प्राकृते जागते क्रमे ।
तथैव मुदिता युक्ता युक्तं कार्यानुवर्तनम् ॥ ४१ ॥

tasmānna duḥkhitā yuktā prākṛte jāgate krame ,
tathaiva muditā yuktā yuktaṃ kāryānuvartanam 41

41. tasmāt na duḥkhitā yuktā prākṛte jāgate krame
tathā eva muditā yuktā yuktam kāryānuvartanam

41. Therefore, in the natural course of worldly events, it is not appropriate to be sorrowful. Similarly, it is not appropriate to be overly joyful; rather, following the proper course of action (karma) is fitting.
