वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-95, verse-9

वाग्वज्रं भरतेनोक्तममनोज्ञं परंतपः ।
प्रगृह्य बाहू रामो वै पुष्पिताग्रो यथा द्रुमः ।
वने परशुना कृत्तस्तथा भुवि पपात ह ॥९॥
9. vāgvajraṃ bharatenoktamamanojñaṃ paraṃtapaḥ ,
pragṛhya bāhū rāmo vai puṣpitāgro yathā drumaḥ ,
vane paraśunā kṛttastathā bhuvi papāta ha.

9. The tormentor of foes (paraṃtapaḥ), Rāma, (upon hearing) Bharata's unpleasant speech, which was like a thunderbolt, seized his arms and, like a tree with blossoming tips cut down by an axe in the forest, he thus fell to the ground.
