वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-95, verse-13

किं नु तस्य मया कार्यं दुर्जातेन महात्मना ।
यो मृतो मम शोकेन न मया चापि संस्कृतः ॥१३॥
13. kiṃ nu tasya mayā kāryaṃ durjātena mahātmanā ,
yo mṛto mama śokena na mayā cāpi saṃskṛtaḥ.
13. kim nu tasya mayā kāryam durjātena mahātmanā
yaḥ mṛtaḥ mama śokena na mayā ca api saṃskṛtaḥ
13. nu mayā durjātena mahātmanā tasya kim kāryam?
yaḥ mama śokena mṛtaḥ ca mayā api na saṃskṛtaḥ
13. What indeed can be done by me for that great-souled (mahātman) one, Lakshmana, who was born into such misfortune? For he died because of my sorrow and was not even properly consecrated (saṃskāra) by me.
