महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-37, verse-34

पुरा मङ्कणकः सिद्धः कुशाग्रेणेति नः श्रुतम् ।
क्षतः किल करे राजंस्तस्य शाकरसोऽस्रवत् ।
स वि शाकरसं दृष्ट्वा हर्षाविष्टः प्रनृत्तवान् ॥३४॥
34. purā maṅkaṇakaḥ siddhaḥ kuśāgreṇeti naḥ śrutam ,
kṣataḥ kila kare rājaṁstasya śākaraso'sravat ,
sa vi śākarasaṁ dṛṣṭvā harṣāviṣṭaḥ pranṛttavān.

34. Formerly, we have heard (naḥ śrutam) that Maṅkaṇaka, a perfected being (siddha), was wounded (kṣataḥ) in the hand (kare) by the tip of a kuśa grass blade (kuśāgreṇa). O king (rājan), it is said (kila) that from him, vegetable juice (śākarasa) flowed instead of blood. Seeing that vegetable juice, he became filled with joy (harṣāviṣṭaḥ) and began to dance.
