महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-6, chapter-13, verse-28

एको जनपदो राजन्द्वीपेष्वेतेषु भारत ।
उक्ता जनपदा येषु धर्मश्चैकः प्रदृश्यते ॥२८॥
28. eko janapado rājandvīpeṣveteṣu bhārata ,
uktā janapadā yeṣu dharmaścaikaḥ pradṛśyate.
28. ekaḥ janapadaḥ rājan dvīpeṣu eteṣu bhārata
uktāḥ janapadāḥ yeṣu dharmaḥ ca ekaḥ pradṛśyate
28. rājan bhārata,
eteṣu dvīpeṣu,

yeṣu ca ekaḥ dharmaḥ pradṛśyate,
te janapadāḥ uktāḥ.
28. O King (rājan), O Bhārata, among these islands (dvīpa), there is one country (janapada). Those countries (janapada) are said to be the ones in which a single constitutional law (dharma) is observed.
