महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-71, verse-11

नाहं जनं निर्दहेयं दृष्ट्वा घोरेण चक्षुषा ।
स पिधाय मुखं राजा तस्माद्गच्छति पाण्डवः ॥११॥
11. nāhaṁ janaṁ nirdaheyaṁ dṛṣṭvā ghoreṇa cakṣuṣā ,
sa pidhāya mukhaṁ rājā tasmādgacchati pāṇḍavaḥ.
11. na aham janam nirdheyam dṛṣṭvā ghoreṇa cakṣuṣā
saḥ pidhāya mukham rājā tasmāt gacchati pāṇḍavaḥ
11. I would not consume people merely by looking at them with a terrible eye. Therefore, that king, the Pandava (Pāṇḍava) prince, goes with his face covered.
