महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-46, verse-40

अनागतं च न ध्यायेन्नातीतमनुचिन्तयेत् ।
वर्तमानमुपेक्षेत कालाकाङ्क्षी समाहितः ॥४०॥
40. anāgataṁ ca na dhyāyennātītamanucintayet ,
vartamānamupekṣeta kālākāṅkṣī samāhitaḥ.
40. anāgatam ca na dhyāyet na atītam anucintayet
vartamānam upekṣeta kālākāṅkṣī samāhitaḥ
40. One should not contemplate what is yet to come, nor dwell on what has passed. Composed and awaiting the opportune moment, one should remain detached from the present.
