महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-92, verse-39

दिव्यरूपा हि सा देवी गङ्गा त्रिपथगा नदी ।
मानुषं विग्रहं श्रीमत्कृत्वा सा वरवर्णिनी ॥३९॥
39. divyarūpā hi sā devī gaṅgā tripathagā nadī ,
mānuṣaṁ vigrahaṁ śrīmatkṛtvā sā varavarṇinī.
