तेन क्ष्मापतिनेत्युक्ते कुम्भ आहासने विशन् ।
गिरा विषण्णया शीर्णवंशस्वनसमानया ॥ ३९ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: When he was thus addressed by that king, Kumbha, as he sat on the seat, spoke with a sorrowful voice, which was like the sound of a broken bamboo flute.
