बृहत्-पाराशर-होरा-शास्त्रम्       bṛhat-pārāśara-horā-śāstram - chapter-44, verse-40

कर्कटे मध्यमोऽन्त्यश्च वृश्चिकाद्यद्वितीयकौ ।
मीनेऽन्तिमस्त्रिभागश्च व्यालवर्गाः प्रकीर्तिताः ॥४०॥
40. karkaṭe madhyamo'ntyaśca vṛścikādyadvitīyakau .
mīne'ntimastribhāgaśca vyālavargāḥ prakīrtitāḥ.
40. karkaṭe madhyamaḥ antyaḥ ca vṛścikādyadvitīyakau
mīne antimaḥ tribhāgaḥ ca vyālavargāḥ prakīrtitāḥ
40. The middle and last `drekkāṇas` (tribhāga) of Cancer, the first and second of Scorpio, and the last `drekkāṇa` of Pisces are declared as belonging to the "class of serpents/beasts" (vyālavarga).
