मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-123, verse-16

अथवा मोचयाम्येतां तन्वीं वेत्स्यामि तत्पुनः ।
क्षत्रियैर्धार्यते शस्त्रमार्तानां त्राणकारणात् ॥१६॥
16. athavā mocayāmyetāṃ tanvīṃ vetsyāmi tatpunaḥ .
kṣatriyairdhāryate śastramārtānāṃ trāṇakāraṇāt.
16. athavā mocayāmi etām tanvīm vetsyāmi tat punaḥ
kṣatriyaiḥ dhāryate śastram ārtānām trāṇakāraṇāt
16. Alternatively, I will release this slender-bodied woman, and I will ascertain the truth of that matter later. Weapons are indeed borne by warriors (kṣatriyas) for the purpose of protecting the distressed.
