मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-123, verse-12

मा भैरिति स तामाह हतोऽसीति च तं वदन् ।
शासतीमां महीं दुष्टः को दूयेत करन्धमे ॥१२॥
12. mā bhairiti sa tāmāha hato'sīti ca taṃ vadan .
śāsatīmāṃ mahīṃ duṣṭaḥ ko dūyeta karandhame.
12. mā bhaiḥ iti sa tām āha hataḥ asi iti ca tam vadan
śāsati imām mahīm duṣṭaḥ kaḥ dūyeta karandhame
12. He said to her, "Do not fear!" And addressing him (the demon), he declared, "You are dead!" (He thought or said to himself:) "O Karandhama, with you ruling this earth, who could possibly be troubled by this wicked one?"
