मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-114, verse-8

दानवानां सुवीर्याणां जघान नवतीर्नव ।
बलं च बलिनां श्रेष्ठो जम्भं चासुरसत्तमम् ॥८॥
8. dānavānāṃ suvīryāṇāṃ jaghāna navatīrnava .
balaṃ ca balināṃ śreṣṭho jambhaṃ cāsurasattamam.
8. dānavānām suvīryāṇām jaghāna navatīn nava balam
ca balinām śreṣṭhaḥ jambham ca asurasattamam
8. He killed ninety-nine very mighty Danavas. And he (Indra), the best among the strong, killed Bala and Jambha, the foremost of the asuras.
