मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-114, verse-43

विश्ववेद्युवाच ।
राज्ये स्थितः पूजयेथा ज्येष्ठं भूपार्हणैर्धनैः ।
कनिष्ठज्येष्ठता केयं राज्यं प्रार्थयतां नृणाम् ॥४३॥
43. viśvavedyuvāca .
rājye sthitaḥ pūjayethā jyeṣṭhaṃ bhūpārhaṇairdhanaiḥ .
kaniṣṭhajyeṣṭhatā keyaṃ rājyaṃ prārthayatāṃ nṛṇām.

pūjayethāḥ jyeṣṭham bhūpārhaṇaiḥ
dhanaiḥ kaniṣṭhajyeṣṭhatā kā
iyam rājyam prārthayatām nr̥ṇām
43. Viśvavedya said: 'When you are established in the kingdom, you should honor your elder brother with wealth and gifts suitable for a king. What is this distinction of juniority and seniority for men who aspire to a kingdom?'
