मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-114, verse-39

वयं तु भ्रातरः पञ्च पृथ्वी चैका महामते ।
अतोऽस्याः पृथगैश्वर्यं कथं कृत्स्नं भविष्यति ॥३९॥
39. vayaṃ tu bhrātaraḥ pañca pṛthvī caikā mahāmate .
ato'syāḥ pṛthagaiśvaryaṃ kathaṃ kṛtsnaṃ bhaviṣyati.
39. vayam tu bhrātaraḥ pañca pṛthivī ca ekā mahāmate ataḥ
asyāḥ pṛthak aiśvaryam katham kṛtsnam bhaviṣyati
39. But we are five brothers, O great-minded one, and the earth is only one. Therefore, how can separate sovereignty over it be complete?
