विश्ववेद्युवाच ।
एवमेतद्भवत्वत्र यद्येका वसुधा नृप ।
तां त्वमेवाभिपद्यस्व ज्येष्ठः शास्तु यथा भवान् ॥४०॥

40. viśvavedyuvāca .
evametadbhavatvatra yadyekā vasudhā nṛpa .
tāṃ tvamevābhipadyasva jyeṣṭhaḥ śāstu yathā bhavān.

viśvavedyaḥ uvāca evam etat bhavatu atra yadi ekā vasudhā
nṛpa tām tvam eva abhipadyasva jyeṣṭhaḥ śāstu yathā bhavān
nṛpa tām tvam eva abhipadyasva jyeṣṭhaḥ śāstu yathā bhavān
40.
Viśvavedya said: 'So be it. If the earth is indeed one, O King, then you yourself should take possession of it. Let the eldest rule, as you are (the eldest).'
