व्रतं तस्यैतत्सर्वदा शक्रसूनो कच्चित्त्वया निहतः सोऽद्य कर्णः ॥३८॥

śakrasūno,
kaccit tvayā adya saḥ karṇaḥ nihataḥ? yāvat alpabuddhiḥ pārthaḥ sthitaḥ iti aham pādau kadācit na dhāvayiṣye,
etat tasya vratam sarvadā.

38.
O son of Indra (Arjuna), I hope that Karṇa, that foolish one, has been killed by you today, he who constantly swore: "I will never wash my feet as long as Pārtha is alive!".
