महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-159, verse-21

हन्यमानं तथात्मानं परेभ्यो बहवो जनाः ।
नाभ्यजानन्त समरे निद्रया मोहिता भृशम् ॥२१॥
21. hanyamānaṁ tathātmānaṁ parebhyo bahavo janāḥ ,
nābhyajānanta samare nidrayā mohitā bhṛśam.

na abhyajānanta samare nidrayā mohitāḥ bhṛśam
21. bahavaḥ janāḥ nidrayā bhṛśam mohitāḥ samare

21. Many people, greatly bewildered by sleep, thus did not recognize their own selves (ātman) being slain by the enemies in battle.
