महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-44, verse-44

प्रसिद्धं भाषितं दाने तेषां प्रत्यसनं पुनः ।
ये मन्यन्ते क्रयं शुल्कं न ते धर्मविदो जनाः ॥४४॥
44. prasiddhaṁ bhāṣitaṁ dāne teṣāṁ pratyasanaṁ punaḥ ,
ye manyante krayaṁ śulkaṁ na te dharmavido janāḥ.
44. prasiddham bhāṣitam dāne teṣām pratyasanam punaḥ
ye manyante krayam śulkam na te dharmavidaḥ janāḥ
44. punaḥ prasiddham bhāṣitam dāne teṣām pratyasanam
ye janāḥ śulkam krayam manyante te na dharmavidaḥ
44. Moreover, the established principle regarding a gift (dāna) serves as a refutation for them; those people who consider the bridal price (śulka) to be a purchase are not truly knowers of natural law (dharma).
