अप्यन्यामनुपप्रच्छ शङ्कमानः पितुर्वचः ।
अतीव ह्यस्य धर्मेप्सा पितुर्मेऽभ्यधिकाभवत् ॥३९॥

39. apyanyāmanupapraccha śaṅkamānaḥ piturvacaḥ ,
atīva hyasya dharmepsā piturme'bhyadhikābhavat.

39. He (Bhīṣma) also inquired about the other (maiden), being apprehensive of my (Ambā's) father's words. Indeed, his desire for righteousness (dharma) was much greater than my father's.
