महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-44, verse-25

यस्त्वत्र मन्त्रसमयो भार्यापत्योर्मिथः कृतः ।
तमेवाहुर्गरीयांसं यश्चासौ ज्ञातिभिः कृतः ॥२५॥

25. yastvatra mantrasamayo bhāryāpatyormithaḥ kṛtaḥ ,
tamevāhurgarīyāṁsaṁ yaścāsau jñātibhiḥ kṛtaḥ.

25. yaḥ tu atra mantra-samayaḥ bhāryā-patyoḥ mithaḥ kṛtaḥ
tam eva āhuḥ garīyāṃsam yaḥ ca asau jñātibhiḥ kṛtaḥ

25. They declare that the solemn agreement made by sacred formulas (mantras) between husband and wife is more weighty than the one made by their relatives.
