यदि वः शुल्कतो निष्ठा न पाणिग्रहणं तथा ।
लाजान्तरमुपासीत प्राप्तशुल्का पतिं वृतम् ॥४२॥

42. yadi vaḥ śulkato niṣṭhā na pāṇigrahaṇaṁ tathā ,
lājāntaramupāsīta prāptaśulkā patiṁ vṛtam.

42. If your (marriage) agreement is based on a bridal price (śulka) and not on the ritual of hand-taking (pāṇigrahaṇa), then the woman who has received the price should perform the parched-grain ritual (lājāhoma) with the chosen husband.
