महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-15, verse-51

पशूनां वृषणं छित्त्वा ततो भिन्दन्ति नस्तकान् ।
कृषन्ति बहवो भारान्बध्नन्ति दमयन्ति च ॥५१॥
51. paśūnāṁ vṛṣaṇaṁ chittvā tato bhindanti nastakān ,
kṛṣanti bahavo bhārānbadhnanti damayanti ca.

51. They castrate animals, then pierce their nostrils. Many (animals) are made to pull heavy burdens; they are tied up and subjugated.
