भगवद्गीता       bhagavad-gītā - chapter-11, verse-53

नाहं वेदैर्न तपसा न दानेन न चेज्यया ।
शक्य एवंविधो द्रष्टुं दृष्टवानसि मां यथा ॥५३॥
53. nāhaṁ vedairna tapasā na dānena na cejyayā ,
śakya evaṁvidho draṣṭuṁ dṛṣṭavānasi māṁ yathā.
53. na aham vedaiḥ na tapasā na dānena na ca ijyayā
śakya evaṃvidhaḥ draṣṭum dṛṣṭavān asi mām yathā
53. aham evaṃvidhaḥ yathā tvam mām dṛṣṭavān asi,
na vedaiḥ na tapasā na dānena na ca ijyayā draṣṭum śakyaḥ
53. I cannot be seen in this form—as you have seen Me—through Vedic study, nor through austerity (tapas), nor through charity (dāna), nor through sacrifice.
