योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-77, verse-5

श्रीराम उवाच ।
यत्पूर्वमासीद्भगवंस्तदिदानीं तथैव हि ।
भविष्यति किमर्थं वै वद मे वदतां वर ॥ ५ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca ,
yatpūrvamāsīdbhagavaṃstadidānīṃ tathaiva hi ,
bhaviṣyati kimarthaṃ vai vada me vadatāṃ vara 5

5. yat pūrvam āsīt bhagavan tat idānīm tathā eva hi
bhaviṣyati kimartham vai vada me vadatām vara

5. bhagavan vadatām vara yat pūrvam āsīt tat idānīm
tathā eva hi bhaviṣyati vai kimartham me vada

5. Shri Rama said: "O revered one (bhagavan), why will what was formerly, what is now, and what will be in the future, remain exactly the same? Please tell me, O best of speakers."
