महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-10, verse-23

ऋषय ऊचुः ।
सकृत्सतां संगतं लिप्सितव्यं ततः परं भविता भव्यमेव ।
नातिक्रमेत्सत्पुरुषेण संगतं तस्मात्सतां संगतं लिप्सितव्यम् ॥२३॥

23. ṛṣaya ūcuḥ ,
sakṛtsatāṁ saṁgataṁ lipsitavyaṁ; tataḥ paraṁ bhavitā bhavyameva ,
nātikrametsatpuruṣeṇa saṁgataṁ; tasmātsatāṁ saṁgataṁ lipsitavyam.

23. ṛṣayaḥ ūcuḥ sakṛt satām saṅgatam
lipsitavyam tataḥ param bhavitā bhavyam
eva na atikramet satpuruṣeṇa saṅgatam
tasmāt satām saṅgatam lipsitavyam

23. The sages said: 'Once the company (saṅgata) of good people has been sought, thereafter only auspiciousness will result. One should never disregard the company of an honorable person (satpuruṣa). Therefore, the company of good people should always be desired.'
