महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-82, verse-31

प्रीतस्तेऽहं महाभागे तपसानेन शोभने ।
वरयस्व वरं देवि दातास्मीति पुरंदर ॥३१॥
31. prītaste'haṁ mahābhāge tapasānena śobhane ,
varayasva varaṁ devi dātāsmīti puraṁdara.
31. prītaḥ te aham mahābhāge tapasā anena śobhane
varayasva varam devi dātā asmi iti purandara
31. O most fortunate and beautiful one, I am pleased with you because of this `tapas` (asceticism). O goddess, choose a boon; I, Purandara, am here to grant it.
