महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-38, verse-48

कुम्भाश्च नगरद्वारि वारिपूर्णा दृढा नवाः ।
कन्याः सुमनसश्छागाः स्थापितास्तत्र तत्र ह ॥४८॥
48. kumbhāśca nagaradvāri vāripūrṇā dṛḍhā navāḥ ,
kanyāḥ sumanasaśchāgāḥ sthāpitāstatra tatra ha.
48. kumbhāḥ ca nagaradvāri vāripūrṇāḥ dṛḍhāḥ navāḥ
kanyāḥ sumanasaḥ chāgāḥ sthāpitāḥ tatra tatra ha
48. And at the city gate, new, strong pots filled with water were placed. Girls, auspicious flowers, and goats were also arranged here and there.
