He, having distributed the residual offerings from the ancestral rites to brāhmaṇas and his dependents, would then partake of the remaining food himself. He was supremely devoted to truth, non-violent towards all beings, and with his entire being, he offered (bhakti) devotion to Janārdana, the God of gods.
