महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-69, verse-36

यद्यहं वचनादेव गृह्णीयामिममात्मजम् ।
भवेद्धि शङ्का लोकस्य नैवं शुद्धो भवेदयम् ॥३६॥
36. yadyahaṁ vacanādeva gṛhṇīyāmimamātmajam ,
bhaveddhi śaṅkā lokasya naivaṁ śuddho bhavedayam.
36. yadi aham vacanāt eva gṛhṇīyām imam ātmajam bhavet
hi śaṅkā lokasya na evam śuddhaḥ bhavet ayam
36. If I were to accept this son simply based on words, then surely the people would have doubts, and he would not be considered pure (or legitimate) in that manner.
