महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-122, verse-36

न हि राज्ञामुदीर्णानामेवंभूतैर्नरैः क्वचित् ।
सख्यं भवति मन्दात्मञ्श्रिया हीनैर्धनच्युतैः ॥३६॥
36. na hi rājñāmudīrṇānāmevaṁbhūtairnaraiḥ kvacit ,
sakhyaṁ bhavati mandātmañśriyā hīnairdhanacyutaiḥ.
36. na hi rājñām udīrṇānām evambhūtaiḥ naraiḥ kvacit
sakhyam bhavati mandātman śriyā hīnaiḥ dhanacyutaiḥ
36. Indeed, O dull-witted one, friendship never exists between mighty kings and such men who are devoid of prosperity and fallen from wealth.
