महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-110, verse-21

सत्कृतोऽसक्तृतो वापि योऽन्यां कृपणचक्षुषा ।
उपैति वृत्तिं कामात्मा स शुनां वर्तते पथि ॥२१॥
21. satkṛto'saktṛto vāpi yo'nyāṁ kṛpaṇacakṣuṣā ,
upaiti vṛttiṁ kāmātmā sa śunāṁ vartate pathi.
21. satkṛtaḥ asatkṛtaḥ vā api yaḥ anyām kṛpaṇacakṣuṣā
upaiti vṛttim kāmātmā saḥ śunām vartate pathi
21. He who, whether honored or dishonored, being a self (ātman) driven by desire, approaches another livelihood with a wretched gaze, he indeed lives on the path of dogs.
