योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-6, chapter-31, verse-6

न दृश्यदर्शनद्रष्ट्ररूपं तैलमिवोपले ।
न कर्तृकर्मकरणं दृशीन्दाविव कृष्णता ॥ ६ ॥
na dṛśyadarśanadraṣṭrarūpaṃ tailamivopale ,
na kartṛkarmakaraṇaṃ dṛśīndāviva kṛṣṇatā 6
6. na dṛśyadarśanadraṣṭṛrūpaṃ tailam iva upale
na kartṛkarmakaraṇaṃ dṛśi indau iva kṛṣṇatā
6. dṛśyadarśanadraṣṭṛrūpaṃ na tailam iva upale
kartṛkarmakaraṇaṃ na dṛśi indau iva kṛṣṇatā
6. It (consciousness) is not a triad of the seen, the act of seeing, and the seer, just as oil is not inherent in a stone. Nor is it a triad of agent, action, and instrument, just as the dark spot on the moon is not inherent in sight.
